Urooncology
Urooncology covers cancer of the genitourinary organs. Prostate cancer is the third most common cancer found in men. Kidney tumours account for about 3% of all cancers, while bladder tumours are similarly common. Testicular tumours account for about 1% of all cancers and most commonly affect very young men between the ages of 20 and 35.
Modern diagnostics
URO MEDICO clinic has all the knowledge and equipment needed for the most advanced diagnostic methods. Urooncology diagnostics includes both a laboratory blood and urine analysis and specialised examinations.
In men over 40 or with a family history of prostate cancer, analysis of prostate specific antigen (PSA) concentration in the blood is a standard part of a preventive urological examination. Elevated levels of this enzyme are one possible symptom of prostate cancer. Higher concentrations of AFP and betaHCG markers may accompany testicular cancer. Cytological analysis of urine detects the presence of tumour cells in the urine.
Sonography is another method used in urooncology diagnosis. Our clinic has state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment for sonographies of the kidneys, bladder, pelvis and urogenital organs, as well as for trans-rectal sonographies and prostate biopsies. A flexible cystoscope examines the urethra and bladder area for any suspected serious disease.
Professional and sensitive approach
Our clinic’s physicians are top professionals in their field and have treated thousands of patients. They stay up to date with current research and studies in diagnosing and treating urooncological diseases. They will make sure that the diagnostics are effective and accurate. If cancer is detected, they will ensure the right treatment using the most effective procedures available to treat the particular type of tumour.
The most essential factor in successfully treating cancer is how far it had spread when it was diagnosed. Early detection significantly increases a patient’s probability of survival and often allows less invasive treatments to be used. Remember to reserve your regular preventive urology check-up and don’t delay if you are experiencing any problems in the genitourinary system.
